The Çinili Köşk is the first building built by Fatih Sultan Mehmet in the Topkapi Palace, opposite the Archeology Museum. The summer mansion dated 1472 is an early Ottoman example of Seljuk influence with its facade with columns, an iwan-shaped terrace and cut-tile decoration. The ceramics and tiles belonging to the Seljuk and Ottoman periods were exhibited chronologically in this mansion. Iznik-made tiles of the 16th century are the most important works of the museum. In the collections of the Çinili Köşk Museum, there are around 2000 artifacts belonging to the Seljuk and Ottoman periods dating from the 11th century to the beginning of the 20th century.
Designed with inspiration from the wall tiles of the room where the Ab-ı Hayat Fountain is located, the Çinili Vase is made of hand-made glass and all of the patterns on it are hand-carved and decorated with 24 carat gold.
